MOVEONRUSSELL.ORG ASK PENNSYLVANIA ATTORNEY GENERAL TO INVESTIGATE THE WILLIAM RUSSELL FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN FOR CONTRIBUTION SCHEME

October 28, 2008// Johnstown, PA - Today MoveOnRussell.Org sent a letter to the Pennsylvania Attorney General asking for an investigation into whether the William Russell for Congress campaign violated any criminal laws by promoting Fisher House Foundation and whether any campaign officials broke the law by participating in a scheme to sell hot dogs in return for contributions at a campaign event without authorization.

The William Russell for Congress campaign posted on its russellbrigade.com website: Join Russell Brigade on October 19, 2008 at multiple locations throughout the 12th Congressional District for Bill Russell's Hot Dog Days" benefiting the construction of the new "Fisher House" for military families in southwestern PA.

On October 15, 2008, Fisher House Foundation wrote the William Russell for Congress campaign and demanded that William Russell, William Russell for Congress and all of its affiliated organizations specifically including Russell Brigade (together, the "Campaign") immediately cease and desist using or referencing Fisher House, its logo or anything referring to Fisher House in any of its literature and communications.

Fisher House further notified Russell that it will not accept any proceeds from this unauthorized event or from the campaign at any time.

Russell defied the Fisher House Demand and held the campaign event on October 19, 2008, and collected contributions for Fisher House. Fisher House subsequently wrote to Russell with further cease and desist demands. Today Russell continues to solicit contributions for Fisher House and make references to Fisher House on its russellbrigade.com website.

Pennsylvania law prohibits:

    1. Representing that any part of the contributions received will be given or donated to any other charitable organization unless such organization has consented to the use of its name prior to the solicitation. The written consent shall be signed by any two authorized officers, directors or trustees of the charitable organization.
    2. Misrepresenting or misleading anyone in any manner to believe that any other person sponsors, endorses or approves such solicitation or charitable sales promotion when such other person has not given consent in writing to the use of his name for these purposes.
    3. Utilizing any representation that implies the contribution is for or on behalf of a charitable organization is for on behalf of a charitable organization, or utilizing any emblem, device or printed matter belonging to or associated with a charitable organization without first being authorized in writing to do so by the charitable organization.

By holding a campaign event and accepting contributions on behalf of Fisher House Foundation, Russell may have violated state law.

Alma Medina, Executive DIrector of MoveOnRussell.Org said today, "It is clear that the Russell campaign is attempting to capitalize on the Fisher House Foundation name. The Pennsylvania Attorney General Office should immediately investigate if Russell is complicit in this or any other campaign contribution schemes.

For all the coverage of William Russell's background, there are some important things that you won't learn about him from his campaign website and in the media. His carefully crafted positive image relies on people not knowing this stuff and you might be surprised by some of it.

Johnstown, PA., Sept. 17-MoveOnRussell.Org (http://moveonrussell.org) a newly formed issue advocacy organization was launched with a campaign designed to make sure that some unscrupulous soul in the Russell campaign does'nt violate the law in order to gain an advantage in this election.

MoveOnRussell.Org is a non-profit, nonpartisan "527" organization established as a counterbalance to BootMurtha and its allies. Through advertising, a Web site and events around the 12th Congressional District, the group will provide a clear view of what the Russell campaign really is.

In political campaigns, its sometimes difficult to sort through all of the facts and claims and counter-claims, and you can't always believe what you hear. MoveOnRussell.Org. wants to keep you informed, help the voters of the 12th Congressional District cut through the clutter, and make sure they always have the facts and know the truth about Russell's campaign.

Its time to pull back the curtain on William Russell. William Russell is not who his campaign website and the press make him out to be.

There He Goes Again. Little Billie Russell Has More Integrity Problems.

Johnstown, PA - Already having complaints filed against his campaign with the Federal Elections Commission, MoveonRussell.org has learned, Russell now stands accused of running his campaign out of the Pentagon while on Active Duty.

WOW! Can it be true that the Pentagon is beginning to look at Little Billie Russell's conduct while he served on active duty??? The dangers of active duty military, especially military officers, getting involved in politics is dangerous to our Constitution and well recognized by our military. Admiral Mullen, JCS Chairman said, "If you are in the military, stay out of politics." Now we are hearing from well placed contributors that the Pentagon is seriously reviewing rumors that Russell ran his political campaign from the Pentagon. Clearly, Little Billie Russell played fast and loose with military regulations, traditions and laws. But could he be reckless enough to violate laws? Apparently yes.

What does it appear that Russell did? Well, for beginners, he is is accused of rolling his cell phone over to a Pentagon phone, and using Pentagon faxes and office space to directly manage his campaign. Then there are the obvious violations of appearing on an extremist radio talk show (Michael Savage) while on active duty and identified as an Army officer. He still claims to be serving on active duty on his website signing as Lt. Col. William Russell rather than identifying himself as retired. And his fundraiser mailings are signed by Lt. Col. William T. Russell (USAR)

A military officer is expected to maintain the highest standards especially when it affects the Constitution of the United States and actual lives. We hope that Russell was not performing any significant responsibilities and that no one died when Russell was on the phone at the Pentagon talking about his campaign. Little Billie Russell clearly does not possess either the integrity or the judgment required to hold political office to represent the 12th District. Next time you see him or the media, ask if Little Billie Russell used the Pentagon as his campaign headquarters in any way.

Little Billy Russell's Campaign Manager Peg Luksik Said Russell's Work In Congress Would be Meaningless.

Johnstown, PA- The views expressed by Peg Luksik in past statements demonstrate her consistent insensitivity to mainstream politics.

In Interview with Peg Luksik by John Mallon 1998 (www.constitutional.net/Luksik/mallon.html) she said:

"If you run for Congress, you're one of 435, and while we have some wonderful Congressman, like Ron Paul, he doesn't win his votes. And he often doesn't even get his things introduced on the floor. And so, thats an exercise in frustration unless you can win enough of the 435 to make a difference.

If you run for Senate, you're one of a hundred, so unless you're the committee chair, and unless you sit on the conference committee, again you can be easily circumvented . And at the federal level, I been involved at the federal level as a lobbyist and getting legislation written, and sometimes passed. And then it goes into the bureaucracies, and the departments totally rewrite the regulations to gut your laws. And I thought, "Wow, I spent two years working on this law and it was meaningless within six months of the time we passed it."

Peg Luksik you should be giving your vote to Congressman John Murtha. Not Little Billy Russell.
